Shyamalamadingdong’s Avatar flick gets pics!

So, USA Today has the scoop on M. Night’s new movie The Last Airbender (on account of Cameron making what sounds like the second coming of cinema called Avatar), and released pictures of Noah Ringer as Ang and, ugh, Dev Patel as Zuko. I have nothing against Patel, but this just screams opportunistic casting than proper one. And isn’t the Fire Nation analogous of ancient China? Same goes for Ang. But whatever, if the fighting is good (and the show had amongst the best ever animated anywhere) then it’ll have to at least be entertaining.

Still, it’s not the actors that are my chief concern. Shyalaman hasn’t made a good movie since Signs, with The Village being mediocre, Lady in the Water nothing more than self-congratulatory masturbation and The Happening just outright retarded. That’s not a euphemism. I firmly believe that the movie, if it were a person, would be mentally deficient. So I’m weary of Shyamalan’s latest endeavour.

It’s got solid material to work from so he can’t fuck up too badly, can he?

He's a kid, bald, and has a staff. Seems close enough.

Not by a long shot, buddy. Hopefully yout tae kwon do skills fare better than your acting.

I have no idea if this movie will be good or not, but I’d just like to contend that the Village was actually pretty good. Too many people got to expecting a twist from Shyamalan so when the one in the village happened and was rather bad, people forget that the rest of the movie was pretty thrilling up until that point.

Omg I just have to say that I completely agree with you. I LOVE Avatar and at first I was excited about the thought of a live-action movie. But now I know who is making it (Shamalymalan) and I am already disappointed. Also, I don’t care for Jesse McCartney, but I could at least see him in that role. But Patel? He is definitely not my in my first 100 choices…. The girl playing Katara is cute, though she looks much too young, and as for the rest of the cast, it’s hard to tell…. I will still see it out of love for the story and mild curiousity as to how much he can ruin this… but I am already saddened.

Shyamalan just doesn’t seem like a big budget mega director. The show had some of the wildest fights ever, so I don’t know how he’s going to pull that off live action without it being shit like Dragonball Evolution.

The only thing I can say from seeing these two pics is that the backgrounds look amazing… I’m 95% sure that’s good ol’ CGI and green/blue screen… but at least that looks good. This is a massive landscape that the series covers, so they better at least get that right.
